Flight Planner

Flight Planner is a full-featured flight planner and .Bgl file viewer with a very professional screen appearance complete with coloured maps for much of the world.

If you haven't tried it, it's well worth having a look.

You begin by having Flight Planner scan one or more .Bgl files to generate a database of information regarding your Flight-Sim world. Then you can select a background map on which you specify your departure and destination points, and Flight Planner computes your flight, complete with suggested waypoints. You can add or subtract waypoints, and print your flight plan as well as an approach map (the latter on 256-colour systems only in the current version).

The built-in .Bgl Viewer allows very speedy display of all kinds of navaid, airport and other information stored in your .Bgl files, although it apparently is not possible to print this information.

Included with the package are compressed coloured background maps for most of Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and large parts of North America, Central America, South America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

The author, who wrote the program in Visual Basic, reports that some users of Windows 95 have reported a problem with incorrect waypoints. He's seeking bug reports in order to determine the problem.
