FsOffs - for calculating distances between points
FsOffs is a simple little utility program designed
to help scenery designers work out the numbers needed to locate scenery elements
accurately.
It allows you to make three kinds of calculations:
-
You can specify distances from a given lat and longitude, and FsOffs
will tell you what the lat-long coordinates are for the new spot. Useful
for specifying a runway position.
-
You can specify a lat-long location, a heading in degrees, a "near-distance"
and a "far-distance", and FsOffs will tell you what the lat-long
coordinates are for the "near-distance" and "far-distance" spots. Useful
for determining the coordinates for the airport menu start position, the
touch down points for the "Land Me" option, the ILS glideslope transmitter
and localizer, and the IMO markers.
-
You can specify two lat-long locations, and FsOffs will tell you how
far you've moved in each direction. It'll also tell you how far you've moved
the way the crow flies, and the direction. Useful for measuring distance
between two points.
The author, creator of SCASM, points out that this
little utility is designed for use with short distances. It may not be accurate
at larger distances.
