Xtractor

Xtractor is a simple little freeware Windows program that generates useful reports containing VOR, ILS, Airport and NDB information from your FS5 scenery files. (Illustrated at right is a portion of the Xtractor screen.)

This program will be useful to the weekend pilot who wants to determine if his scenery contains a runway in Lansing, Michigan or Bangkok, Thailand, so he can land there.

Xtractor is also useful to scenery designers who want to determine if there is a conflict between scenery files, for example, if more than one file describes the same runway. Xtractor allows you to scan just one .Bgl file, or all the .Bgl files in a directory. For example, you could scan all the files on the FS.1 CD, creating a large report listing all the Airports.

Whereas a program such as BGLVIEW extracts such information for flight planning and map display purposes, Xtractor is primarily geared to the creation of summary reports of scenery information. You may wish to open the resulting file in Excel and sort and manipulate the extracted information.
